We become a part of the Church because of Christ, but there may be numerous factors for why we are presently involved in the particular church/congregation that we are.

Not only can most of us find numerous denominations (note the lower case "d")surrounding us where we live, but many (at least in the Bible belt) can find multiple congregations of the same denomination within a short drive.

One of the major reasons for this situation and problem that this presents to us today is a culture of "taking my ball and going home." (Or in this case, to another congregation or to start my own church.)Christianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06621976623887201054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15405788.post-20935557810320006332010-06-16T15:22:26.744-04:002010-06-16T15:22:26.744-04:00It's the supplied rationale of the analogy whi...It's the supplied rationale of the analogy which I'm taking issue with.Bryan Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06571780870560590747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15405788.post-28991779845555032422010-06-16T14:45:40.487-04:002010-06-16T14:45:40.487-04:00Don't take the comparison for more than it is....Don't take the comparison for more than it is. Your description of Paul's response sounds a great deal like what has taken place in many of our churches. My personal response (ever since high school) has been what you suggest: that it is better to remain a part of what is mostly good and help improve it.Christianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06621976623887201054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15405788.post-26851986460492641142010-06-16T09:40:36.387-04:002010-06-16T09:40:36.387-04:00But how many of that tribe will soon enough be dis...But how many of that tribe will soon enough be disappointed and disillusioned when their champion has none of the influence on the body politic that they so deeply desire and so richly deserve?Jon A. The Paul's have heavily influenced the non-governing generation--my generation. They created a campaign that is changing people's minds about the way things work. So though they may be 'irrelevant' to or isolated from the current governance, I believe they have began paving the way for the senators-to-be.neil ecksteinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16765536131536309340noreply@blogger.com
