We indulge in artistic snobbery to commend and fully endorse the following evaluations of a certain (in)famous saxophonist:
And so to follow:
Hat tip to gentle reader "Raymond" for these bitter gems.

ummm Mr. snob, that was approximately a decade ago (1999) when Kenneth Gorelick did the "unspeakable" according to Pat.....(1) thats old news....(2) I detect jealousy on the part of Mr. SWNID and other jazz diehards.....
The G Man has faced criticism from day one but I guess he can just say "scoreboard" and count his awards and $$$ with his accounting degree (magna cum laude)from University of Washington.
Bottom line is - he makes music that many people accross the world actually enjoy - people seem to like it and buy it....the rest is history.
Anyhoo - - I'm a George Benson guy and I hear he's in the studio this year with Steve Lukather - yeah baby!
Don't confuse jealousy with annoyance at having to respond graciously to remarks that begin with, "Oh, you like jazz?" and end with "lend you my favorite Kenny G CD."
Jazz aficionados are more than happy to acknowledge great musicians who are also successful financially. Nobody begrudged Miles or Dizzy making a fortune. And players are happy to honor greater players; in fact, they tend to worship them. It's something else about Kenny G that provokes hatred, like maybe that his "music" stinks. Of course, you don't have to say that about most stinky music, just the stinky music that gets played a lot.
Here is an essentially complete taxonomy of responses from people whose music taste is criticized.
1. "You don't understand it." My favorite, because when someone criticizes my tastes, it's nearly always true.
2. "You're just trying to be cool." Almost always comes from someone whose tastes are wholly determined but what is playing on the Top 40 station and is dismayed that someone would seek music from another source or would like music for reasons other than its catchiness.
I'll give this one a bit of credit because there are a few idiots who don't like Michael Jackson and need to be cut down to size.
3. "You're just jealous of his talent/money/success with women." Strange because there are many people other than the artist in question with greater talent/money/success with women of whom the criticizer is not jealous. This response is by far the weakest.
whoa cal - i think you went off the williams college deep end - don't be so testy.....obviously yyou didn't catch my last line - this is a discussion forum - not a defend the dad from non-existant threats forum.....
