Obama: 10th in a Field of 12

Gallup says that Obama's approval rating, which they put at 55%, is 10th highest of the 12 postwar presidents at the same point in their administrations.

A 50% plurality/near majority disapprove of his centerpiece initiative in healthcare.

We will now see whether Obama's considerable abilities extend to political tools other than his own personal popularity.

If the great orator could just explain what exactly they are trying to sell for healthcare....I'm a relatively intelligent bloke and I just don;t see a clear path or understanding......

What does it mean to approve of a president? When Gallup takes this poll what is asked of respondants? Does anyone know this... just curious. How do they define approval.
