Obsessive readers will have already noted the addition of a new entry to the SWNID Fiction Club. It is Tartarin de Tarascon, Alphonse Daudet's hilarious satire of French provincial life, hunting, colonialism, and human pretension. For two and a half decades, SWNID has heard this book lauded. Now we know why. Daudet bites without hurting, with farce that barely asks for suspended disbelief.
And if you own one of those newfangled e-reader thingies, the price is right.
