DVC Film Killed by Bad Literary Genes

Gentle reader and kamikaze reference librarian Scott some time ago forwarded to the SWNID inbox an article by Kevin Nance of the Chicago Sun-Times detailing Dan Brown's literary sins in The Da Vinci Code.

Could it be that the movie is a turkey because it has a turkey of a book for a parent?

I looked online and noticed that it is rated PG-13 for "disturbing images, violence, some nudity, thematic material, brief drug references and sexual content." Am I wrong, or did that used to be the description for R rated movies?
