As Iraqi parliamentary elections are now only two days away (or 1.5 for gentle readers actually in Iraq), SWNID, prompted by the essential James Taranto, offers the reminder that the first Iraqi elections, to select the provisional body that drafted the constitution, were anticipated by many pundits, with, shall we say, utter dread.
