Ellen Moran will be Obama's WH Communications Director. Moran currently runs Emily's List, an organization that promotes the election of pro-choice female candidates and the creation of a "progressive America." Mostly they raise and bundle contributions, attempting to do it early enough for their chosen candidates to scare off competition.
We'll assume that this means Obama intends to stay in touch with the left-wing money operation that propelled him to electoral victory. It is not a move that suggests moderation or bipartisanship.

It's interesting to note that Obama has chosen an outlier for the PR job, but has stuck (mostly) to mainliners for the more substantive positions--mainliners, that is, from a Democratic perspective. Could it be that he plans to sound more leftist than he intends to govern so that we won't be so upset when the actual decisions are made, or simply that he wants to keep pushing to the left with his rhetoric until leftist ideas seem so much more mainline?
Or is something else going on?
Or maybe there's no such thing as a moderate Democrat in PR.
