Whatever the merits of D'Souza's interpretation of BHO, Maureen Dowd can't find boundaries for its denunciation.
She abandons her trademark snark to scream bloody murder in every ad hominem frequency as she responds to the always-opportunistic Newt Gingrich's endorsement of D'Souza's notion. The descriptor "unhinged" works nicely to characterize her rant.
What makes this line of thinking so foul to Dowd, we wonder.

Two things: One, can Gingrich create a sentence that doesn't have "profound" or "fundamental" in it? Second, Dowd exposed Gingrich for who he is, plain and simple and the SWIND even admitted it.
And another thing, Gingrich is probably one of the smartest guys on the block, but he CANNOT get out of the way of his own ego. He is so willing to live "politics at any price" that he will align himself with the crackpots that think the president was born outside the country.
What made Dr. Tom think that SWNID has ever had any stock in Newt? Search this blog for favorable mentions of the Man with the Amphibian Name. We think there are zero.
As a postscript, we note that James Taranto today has a fine litany of Maureen Dowd's rants about Dubya somehow doing this, that or the other because of his daddy, and now objects that Gingrich and D'Souza say the same.

That's hilarious. Of course, Dowd is a pretty easy target when it comes to hypocrisy. Wasn't she the one who accused Joe Biden of plagiarism and then later was found to have published a paragraph that differed by only two words from one that someone else had already posted to a blog?
