And in Other Places . . .

Condi Rice is in Libya, which from the perspective of recent history is pretty amazing. It wasn't that long ago in the SWNIDish experience that concerned friends were calling us to be sure that we weren't aboard Pan Am 770, bombed out of the Scottish skies by the same Libyan dictator whom President Bush has now brought to heel and Secretary Rice now meets as a partner in rolling back radical Islamism.

And the unutterably wicked Dick Cheney is in Georgia pledging generous support for rebuilding and for future NATO membership. Bold stuff, clearly fired by the conviction that liberty needs to be protected more than by caution that national interests must be preserved.

So much for the awful Bush administration's lack of positive accomplishments and complete irrelevancy in its lame-duck year.
