Fans of Tony Snow, the chief of whom is Mrs. SWNID, should view the video clip of the White House press briefing posted at Hot Air. It epitomizes (a) why Helen Thomas's existence makes an almost-convincing case for euthanasia; (b) why Tony Snow is a very, very cool guy.
The clip is actually two clips, one Tony's patient, measured, reasoned and clear response to Ms. Thomas's nutty question (notice how he speaks more slowly to the aged reporter) and the other his response to a personal question. Make sure that you watch to the end to get the second bit.

Tony Snow is the best thing that could happen to President Bush. Hope the Prez appreciates his savvy, his intelligence and his wit. Press Corps beware--you've met more than your match. It's about time!
The best that could happen to President Bush is for him to stop alienating the conservatives who helped get and keep the office.
My trust is in a higher power than Mr Snow.
Since Bush can't run for reelection, he doesn't need the conservatives any more. But they need him, because he's still the President for awhile.
And conservatives need to reckon with the true nature of conservatism, or better conservatisms. Bush is one kind, and those who are other kinds should realize the importance of patiently maintaining their coalition despite particular policy differences. Those who style themselves the only true conservatives will find themselves back in the political minority.
